Combat Expertise

You are especially skilled at defensive fighting.

Type: Combat

Prerequisites: Int 13.

Benefit: When you fight defensively, the penalty to your attack roll is only half the normal penalty. You only take a –1 penalty on melee attack rolls and combat maneuver checks to gain a +1 dodge bonus to your Armor Class. When your base attack bonus reaches +4, and every +4 thereafter, the penalty increases by only –1 and the dodge bonus increases by +1.

Normal: When fighting defensively, you take a –2 penalty on melee attack rolls and combat maneuver checks to gain a +1 dodge bonus to your Armor Class. When your base attack bonus reaches +4, and every +4 thereafter, the penalty increases by –2 and the dodge bonus increases by +1.
